How to Write and Construct your CV Successfully

Points to Remember
Think of your CV as an extension of yourself, companies will see this, before they see you, a successful CV can unlock a door to your career.

Remember each position is different don’t assume that a CV you had 2 years ago will be appropriate to use now. Think about, and research, the post on offer. Can you fulfil the needs of the company? Do you have the knowledge required? Are you the right person for the job? What can you offer the company? Maybe you don’t have  everything that is required BUT you have experience or valuable input that the company can benefit from. Even if a change of career is what you are looking for then remember to convey your interest in the post advertised, what you could achieve and why  the post interest you.  Remember that the overall impression of your CV will be taken into account when interviews are arranged. There are many sources of information about the company who are advertising, Web Site, company literature, employees, and if you are applying through our agency then our
Orangé Resources consultants can give you help and information on the post and company structure.

When writing a CV think of yourself as a sales person. When constructing a CV you are initially selling yourself as a product, and the prospective employer is a buyer. So learning to market your self well is your first goal.

Before you put pen to paper and write your CV, make a few notes on your relevant qualifications, your strong skills, experience, ambition and drive, remember to include any transferable skills, that you can bring in to play (communication, adaptability, problem solving, management, good organisation and planning) are a few. This may end up being long but remembering that this is just your rough notes on yourself, used as a guide to building your CV.

Write down all the skills and abilities you posses that have potential to create value for a business. remember to keep it RELEVANT to the position applied for. Also remember that these skills are your features and these features are benefits for your prospective employer.

Employer:Ramont Sales International Oxford
Position:
   Sales Executive/Manager

During my five year employment at Ramont International I held the post of Sales Executive, my day consisted of Customer Service Calls, Sales Calls, Lead gaining, Follow up client meetings (building client relation and marketing the product, which in most cases I dealt with, resulted in a deal closure).. Two years ago I was promoted to Sales Manager. Other duties included planning and managing company meetings, to evaluate prospective clients.
